Babysitters, Car Shopping and Crawling

Lots going on around here. I officially got a babysitter...one that I really don't know. I've gone back to work for a few hours and had been trying to leave Faith with friends of mine that are stay at home moms. Other than my friend Deanna, most of my friends have bailed on keeping Faith on a consistant basis. I don't blame them, most of them had little kids also so I could only imagine it would be hard to add another one. Anyway, Olivia is the daughter of a nurse friend of mine. She came over on Tuesday to discuss what I was looking for and to see if we were a match. She watched Faith on Wednesday for about 3 hours for me. I think it went good. Faith was still alive with no cuts or bruises! Faith really seems to like Olivia, so I hope this will at least get me through the summer. It's a little nerve racking not knowing her very well, but what else do you do when no family is around??

I've been car shopping and researching...what a lot of work! My 1996 Eclipse Syder has about kicked the bucket and won't pass inspection with out about $1500 worth of repairs. Since it is only worth about that much and we need a 2nd family car we've decided it's about time to get rid of it. *sniff, sniff* I've been looking at Highlanders and Honda CR-Vs. We are looking at used cars and it seems that everytime I find one I like at a good price, it's gone before we can get to the car lot. Then I am still torn between which one do I get? The Highlander that is comfy, without as many features or the CR-V that I can get for around the same price with features, but it's smaller and not as comfy? Hummm....

Don't laugh....This was taken about 10+ years ago!

Also, Faith is crawling. She is keeping me super busy. She is pulling up on everything and she crashes all the time. I try to keep a good eye on her when I let her have free reign of the house, but she crashes even when I put her in her crib or playpen. Darn hard toys and crib rails! She is also getting in her top two teeth. I think she is also hurting herself some when she starts to chew on her toys then hits it just right probably sending a sharp pain in her mouth. We are taking Advil on and off to help with the pain (and with her immunizations she got this week).....

That brings up another thing. I purchased a Buzzy online the other day to help with immunizations. It is suppose to help confuse the nerves so they don't feel the injection as much. I took it to work with me and tried it out on myself while I had a nurse poke me. I thought it worked so-so, but I took it with me and Faith for her immunizations this week to try. The nurse let me use it. Faith cried with the injection, but stopped as soon as she was done. I don't know if this is because it worked or because I picked her up immediately. However, the nurse said that most of the kids are still screaming a couple of minutes later. Perhaps it worked!http://www.needle-pain-management.com/

Father's Day

Alan had his first official Father's Day this past Sunday. I don't think it started off quite like he had hoped. He was probably thinking breakfast in bed and a nice relaxing morning. However, I was exhausted and put Faith back in her bed fussing around 6 am. Alan got up to tend to her and ended up with her until I got out of bed sometime after 8 am. I had to finsih getting Alan's gift wrapped and a video I had made him uploaded so I left Faith with him for a little while longer. I did snag her right before I gave him his gifts so she could sign her card with a handprint.

We then got dressed and headed out to Cracker Barrell for breakfast.

After breakfast we came back home and piddled around the house. However, Alan ended up ditching us for a little Father's Day break to hang out with a friend for an hour or so....what's up with that??

We skipped lunch and had an early dinner at the Olive Garden. We choose
to go there because we had a gift card. Of course we forgot to use it. We'll have to go back again! That was already our 2nd attempt to use it. No wonder stores like to offer gift cards!

Here is the slide show I put together for Alan if you missed it on Facebook.

This week...

This week was a busy, exciting and sad week for us.

Monday, Alan came home from work to watch Faith for a couple of hours so I could run to work and see a few patients. I was only gone for about 3 hours and this is what I came home to:

Alan is so dramatic!

Tuesday was nice because I was able to go get my eyebrows waxed, this was way over due! I took Faith with me, she napped in the car and woke up shortly after we arrived for my appointment. She drank a bottle in her stroller and was so good. When Melanie finished my eyebrows, Faith was still being good, so I asked if she could fit in a 30 minute facial. Her client after me had just cancelled so I got one! Yeah! Faith eventually ended up laying on my belly watching. Althought it wasn't as relaxing as the old days, it was still nice to have done! Thanks Faith!

Wednesday I recieved an email from Chris, the lady I gave Abby back to. Abby was my old, blind and aling cocker spaniel I had when Faith was born. I adopted her years ago from a rescue and her foster mom told me that if I couldn't ever take care of her that she would take her back. Well 9 years later, Chris kept her word and took her back in her last days. Anyway, Chris emailed me to let me know that Abby had passed away. Chris had her for about 7 months and Abby had gotten a little better. However, she went down hill fast over the weekend and the vet told her it was time to let Abby go. The vet came to her house and Chris was able to hold her while she was let go. Abby was a special dog, she was good and taught me a lot.

Also on Wednesday, I noticed Faith was clapping her hands for fun. Now she's been able to bring her hands together and I think she had even been doing some clapping, but it had never made an impression on me that she was really doing any of it for fun. However, this week she seemed to do it with real purpose and she would even copy me.

Friday, Alan survived a lay off at his new job. One person was cut in his department. There orginially was suppose to be two, but some guy quit earlier in the week and Alan thinks this saved his job since he is the newby. Thank goodness he is still employeed!

Saturday Faith appeared to really start crawling. She has been rocking, scooting backwards, and inching forward on her belly now for a few weeks, but today she seemed to have put everything together and make about 4 crawls forward. Her first attempt, I didn't quite get on video...I was in the bathroom and she was trying to catch Pete (our stray dog). I took her into the living room and tried to catch it on video. I got a few seconds before the recorder died.

Now Faith didn't only learn how to crawl on Saturday, she also figured out how to give zerberts! She had given me a ton before I called for Alan to get the video camera. She was slowing down by the time Alan got involved.

And I was able to get my hair colored Saturday morning. I feel like a new woman! Anyway, I am sure I missed something, but this was last week's news in a nut shell!
